  • Is this Twitter?
The problem with people who use Twitter is that many of them have no real interest in expressing themself in 140 characters.
You might think, 'Then why on Earth have they joined Twitter - when it clearly states that 14o characters are the limit?'

Well, the answer is simple; They join because it's cool, because people are talking about it, because it's hyped but also because they make themselves believe that they can stay within the character limit, only to find out (I'm guessing 4-5 tweets into it) that it's just not enough.

After all, it can get difficult staying within the limit when you gotta throw that many 'LOL', 'OMG' and 'LMAO's in after every (no-so-)funny remarks.

Also, Twitter is like a facebook-update; You're supposed to say what you're doing or thinking at the moment, though it's also acceptable to make a joke or post a quote that you found funny or thought-provocking, no big deal!

But thanks to retweeting - which is essentially commenting on what others are saying - people also have to struggle keeping their appreciation for other poeple's tweets to a minimum.
Even more so actually, since their friend's tweet is also using up those precious few characters.

You could opt for writing your friends in Direct Messages, but of course that would allow you privacy in your communication, and in this day and age, who wants that?

The same goes for TwitPic yfrog or any of the other sites that allow you to post picture-links in your tweets; The link is taking of a few characters of course, and after that, how do you fit your picture comments in as well?
Cause we all know that even though a picture is worth 1000 words, you gotta type 1000 addional words to truly comprehend what's going on in that camera-phone snapshot.

But dear Twitter-creators and managers, please, I know there has been talk about removing the 140 character limit completely, but I beg of you, don't;
The 140 character-limit is the heart and soul of Twitter, what some of us joined for!
You know those damn bloggers will be all over it like vultures on a carcass..
