Ever since i watched Almost Famous earlier, i can not stop listening to old school elton john and other 70s music. Music has changed so much recently. It's no longer about the music itself, toughing it out on the road to play for anyone who will listen, or even loving the music for what it stands for. Today, music is about trying to make a quick buck, getting people to love you because of your physical appearance, and making it big just so you can live a life of luxury. As a musician, the people who are in music for the wrong reasons have gotten on some of my last nerves. It seems like everyone is out there to just 'get famous'. That's not what music is about. When you listen to music and can feel the history in a song and the experiences that went into it, that is when you know a true musician/lyricist has written it. Music is indeed an art. Thousands of musicians that have gone before us and made history by speaking to generations of people, from that kid sneaking in records or cds to listen in their room, to the middle-aged, depressed adult that is feeling hopeless. When you look at art, you can tell if the artist has talent and work ethic, or if they have passion and soul. I just wish fans would take time to figure out music and know why they listen to it. If a song has no heart, why listen to something that is heartless? Music is a way of speaking in a way that words can't. So why on earth would you listen to something that has nothing to say?
