As if that wasn't enough, she excommunicated me from ever seeing her again. Fortunately for me she didn't insist on blinding my one good eye. Fact is I did see her again. She was running into town from her beautiful home tucked away in the cornfields of Illinois. I never did understand why people in Central Illinois build big fancy houses. I guess they could paste scenes of Paris or Rome or some other exquisite local on the windows of their homes so they could pretend they weren't in a cornfield. Maybe I should offer that as a service? Yes, that might be quite popular around here. I could throw in Boulder Colorado, too. They could look at their windows and see mountains. They could pretend that they lived somewhere that a mansion should belong. I don't know, though. Maybe a static picture wouldn't work. Here's an idea. Each window could be an LCD display generated by a videocam somewhere in the world. That way the scene outside the window would always be changing. That would look more real. Then the people living inside cornfield mansions could really pretend that they were important. She could certainly convince herself. She's a bit on the dreamy side. I'm sure she ran into town with the express purpose of having me see her even though she had some lawyer threaten me and tell me I could never see her again. I'll bet she loved defying her own lawyer and putting herself in my path. Ah, but that's love for you. 2 years ago from web
